Ca' Rugate
Ca' Rugate is a family-run winery in the heart of Veneto, just east of Verona. Here the Tessari family has been making wine for over a hundred years – on the same slopes, in the same volcanic soil – but with a new generation bringing a modern approach to sustainability and style.
The vineyards span three classic areas: Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello. From these three terroirs, Ca' Rugate creates everything from fresh, mineral-driven white wines to soft, elegant reds with a clear sense of origin. The focus is on indigenous grape varieties such as Garganega and Corvina – always with a balance between freshness, structure and personality.
Ca' Rugate was an early adopter of sustainable thinking. They began phasing out chemical fertilizers in 2004, and today the entire production is on its way to organic certification.
"The quality of a wine is born first in the vineyard, then in the winery."

THE TESSARI FAMILY
Founded by Amedeo Tessari, Ca' Rugate has been run by the Tessari family for four generations since the early 1900s. The estate also houses a wine museum documenting the family's long winemaking tradition.

VALPOLICELLA
The region extends over 8,000 hectares in northern Verona, divided between the classic zone and the DOC area. In the eastern part, at Montecchia di Crosara, the Ca' Rugate vineyards are located at an altitude of around 450 meters.

SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS
They began phasing out chemical fertilizers as early as 2004, and since the 2020 harvest, the wines have been certified organic. The result of many years of work with sustainable cultivation on steep slopes there, which requires both respect for nature and genuine craftsmanship.
